Jewel De Vivre

After marking its 150th anniversary in 2008, the House of Boucheron is still in a celebratory mood. To that end, the company has decided to take inspiration for its latest collection of High Jewelry from the pleasures of Paris and its lavish lifestyle.

The innovative artisans at Boucheron have drawn on the iconic women, locations and symbols that have characterised the gilded age of the Belle Epoque to craft a unique collection of jewelry. The resulting collection perfectly joins Boucheron’s incomparable savoir-faire and modern ingenuity with the artistic exuberance that has come to define the end of the 1800s.

Entitled Gaité Parisienne, the collection consists of seven unique sets of High Jewelry that are tangible incarnations of Paris, the cosmopolitan capital of pleasure and culture. Additionally, each of the seven sets has been given the name of the woman whose personality inspired its creation.

The LOUISE set – the magic of the moment
Louise Weber, the celebrated dancer of the Moulin Rouge, earned the nickname ‘La Goulue’ for her habit of draining the glasses of the men in the audience at her shows. With her table top dancing, spinning skirts and sensual style, Louise is the personification of Parisian extravagance. Boucheron has translated her indomitable spirit into a swirling explosion of diamonds and emeralds.

The white and yellow gold necklace’s central feature is an undulating skirt of precious stones that reference Louise’s claim to fame, the can-can. Revealed beneath its folds is an exquisite 10-carat pear-cut emerald in a descending corkscrew of diamonds; a sparking gem stone interpretation of champagne bursting out of a bottle.

The JEANNE set – a feast for the eyes
Jeanne Souchard, the wife of Ernest Laduree, combined the worlds of the Parisian café and the patisserie into one location: a tea salon where women could come together to indulge themselves in delectable pastries and deep conversation. She created an inviting home for the ‘l’art de vivre a la Française’ lifestyle.

Boucheron has taken the hedonistic ideals of Jeanne and her mouth-watering pastries to heart with a set of sumptuous pink gold High Jewelry pieces.

A selection of rum baba cakes, crème tarts and black forest cakes confected from rubies, sapphires, and coral topped off with diamonds adorn the Jeanne set.

Tentation macaron
Whipped-up in the minds of its skilled designers, Boucheron has transformed jewels into one of life’s most and delicious indulgences: the macaroon.

The round feather-light macaroons which have been a sweet succulent sin for over 200 years have been reborn as jewels; christened ‘Tentation Macaron’. Their colourful cocoons now sparkle in eight different jewelry pieces forged from the finest precious stones. The seductive nature of these jeweled confections is a temptation that need not be resisted. They are a simple little sin to be indulged in now; no forgiveness necessary.

Five new irresistible luscious lovelies
To accompany the earrings, necklace and pendant, the Tentation Macaron rings come in five colours to represent the flavours of the macaroon. The cookie’s crust is coated with inset gems while a second layer of jeweled ‘filling’ is cushioned underneath. The filling can be seen along the edge of the ring and from the bite-size morsel missing from the top.

Every woman can choose which sin she wants to give into. She might even be tempted twice.

As Oscar Wilde once said; 'The best way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it.'
