A bay of luxury

A quick glance at the hyper-paced growing skyline of Dubai, UAE, is usually enough to confirm that this is one of the fastest, if not the fastest-growing metropolises in the world.

With its high-rise towers and buildings crammed in between the thousands of cranes and scaffolding which seemingly pull the structures from beneath the desert sand, the coastal city has already been tabbed the business centre of the Middle East.

Rarely has a city seen a growth spurt the way Dubai has since the new millennium. According to official statistics, 2006 saw 292,000 new people become residents in Dubai - nearly 800 new residents a day - bringing the population of the city to 1.4 million. In a city such as Dubai, where attracting foreign business is the backbone of the economy, there can never be such a thing as too much, or too big. Yet demand remains greater than supply, for residential and commercial property, as international businesses are constantly looking for sufficient office space to branch out to the region.

Enter Dubai Properties, a leading master developer in the region, with the aim of not only solving the office and living space shortage in Dubai, but also leading the charge towards a new criteria and level of real estate development.

Business Bay
With the launch of its master development, Business Bay, a state-of-the-art freehold development that will feature both office and residence space, Dubai Properties has kicked off this mission with a bang. The US$30 billion project, which will populate 190,000 people, will feature 240 world-class towers, providing Dubai with 64 million total square feet of both residential and commercial space.

With its completion in 2015, Business Bay is being hailed as a business district with the potential of being at the same level with, if not outshining the world's largest and most prominent business and financial districts, such as Manhattan in New York City, and Ginza in Tokyo.

Being in a class of its own, Business Bay will provide the best possible commercial environment to the world-class companies, investors and businesses that will be able to move to Dubai once it is completed. Besides offering business a secure spot in a vibrant and dynamic business community, the Bay will be easy to access, have uniquely designed office spaces, landmark architecture to complement the prestigious business address, and state-of-the-art infrastructure and amenities.

Vision Tower
At the entrance to Business Bay will stand Vision Tower, a 51-storey skyscraper serving as an icon for the Business Bay area, and Dubai as a whole. Rising 260 metres, or 853 feet, the tower is covered with transparent glass - allowing clear view from both the inside and outside of the structure. Built on an area of 592,000 square feet, the Tower will offer office spaces ranging from 5,000 to 12,000 square feet.

The trademark feature of the tower will be its bent glass facade, which will be made up of a wall of high-tech transparent glazing. When internally lit, the facade will create a luminous beacon. Vision Tower will offer commanding views of Dubai's main highway, Sheikh Zayed Road, the Business Bay area, and the extended Dubai Creek.

Vision Tower will seamlessly connect to the Bay Avenue, a waterfront area with retail outlets, health clubs, restaurants and other amenities, through an exclusive passage. The tower will also include a sprawling parking lot for 1,420 cars.
